[[ My First Trip to Pulau Ubin ]]

Starring:(myself, Kas, Ahwei, Mon & Dana)

(Boon Hui & Amir)

We left Harbourfront at about 10:20am and made our way towards the Far East.

1) What happened here?

Hahahah....well, I was just transferring the 2 bottles of H20 into my water bottle, when I didn't realise that I had been pouring it onto Kas as well! Yup, and it went all the way down to her shorts (yes... just as you had expected, her *beep* got wet!)

So what you see is Kas using tissue and wiping vigorously her *beep* area just so she won't be mistaken for wetting her shorts! (Sorry, gurlfren!)

2) What happened here?
On board bus #89 from Pasir Ris, a police officer suddenly came onto the bus and asked where we were going.

Puzzled, we answered in unison, "Pulau Ubin"

Officer: You have to alight here because you're currently at a restricted zone

I looked outside and saw a huge building that says:

"AIRFREIGHT TERMINAL BUILDING"

Ooops...
We tapped, and quickly left the bus.
(*sigh*.....there goes a wasted paid EZLink 10-minute trip..)

Boarded another bus and....
FINALLY!

The 'Ladies' (and the 'Gents' for Boon Hui) was the first place we went to when we arrived on Pulau Ubin.
Well, yes..one reason was to relieve ourselves but the main purpose was for us to apply the insect repellent as well as the sunscreen all over the exposed parts of our bodies.

We went to the first rental shop that we saw & each paid $8 to rent a bicycle for the whole day.

We got our bicycles and as we rode further in, we saw more rental shops and found out that one was renting bicycles at only $6 each.

Then later when Amir came, he told us he was able to get them at $5 instead!

Daylight robbery?

Naah.....they were just making a living.
Mon, Ahwei, Dana & I made sandwiches and had a mini picnic while waiting for a miracle to happen...
And what was that miracle?
:
:
:
:
:
...that Kas would be able to ride a bicycle during the time that Amir was making his way into the island.
...But hey, you don't expect miracles to happen on the spot, right?
I mean, miracles do happen but there are times when they take a longer time to work.
So you know what, Kas?
No worries.
Just take your time, ok?

Because when there's a will, there's a way.
And what is that way?
:
:
:
Taa-dah.......
THE LIMO-CYCLE!

While Kas & I were trying to get the hang of riding the "Limo", I saw Boon Hui & Mon continously throwing a tree branch up into the air...I've no idea what they were up to but it was not until Boon Hui came happily towards us and showed these:

Yup, he managed to get 3 rambutans from the tree.
Way to go, Boon Hui! *grins*

Amir came to join us at around 2pm, and that was when we began our ride..

An hour had passed and I was getting pretty tired driving the LIMO around, so I got Boon Hui to take over my shift...And I can tell you that our 'passenger' had a smoother ride since then....

Dana was going at 90km/h!!

Ahwei & Mon ---- the girls who never failed to smile....

*smiles*

I just had to stop to take pictures of the houses that they have there...I thought they'd be in plain, boring brown wood-like colours....BUT I was so wrong:
Nevertheless, I shall say that these people still lead a pretty, simple life..

Niceness, I'd call it. *smiles*

Next,
it was having to go through this....

...which led us to the:

Errr..Amir?....
Going up the staircase with 'no stairs' is certainly NOT a good idea...
No...this pretty lady's not from the jungle...She's with us.

Along the way, I saw this really big (oak?) tree and we all just had to stop:

Just like a cat having trouble getting down from a tree, we faced that kind of situation as well!

Now what was the temperature like by 4:30pm?

Well, it was so hot that we ended up having:

Pumbaa? Is that you??

I estimated that he must have weighed just as much as I do.

His owner told us that though his pet may look fierce, he is indeed very friendly....(Hmmmm...I don't know about that but I'd rather have a safe distance away from this 'friendly' animal)

But for these furry ones?

I wouldn't mind getting inches or even centimetres close to them!Altogether now : Awwwwwwwwww............

The Highlight of the Day would be the:

I know of a certain department who keeps emphasising that all their employees should be in brown shoes ONLY.

Say....how about these?
You know, we can provide brown socks too if you want.
Another simplicity of life on the island:
This uncle caught loads of giant prawns!

Now that's what we call having LIVE seafood!

If you're wondering..that's a crab Kas has very close to her mouth..
Yes, we were hungry by then...

The battery of my digital camera was running low, so that was when I used my D900..here are a few shots that I took with my camera phone:

7 hours on Pulau Ubin...

It was time to ride our way back home.

I had one of the best times in my life and it was made possible by these wonderful people:

Thanks my friends......

p.s. I wish I could show you more pictures than there are featured here but knowing Blogger, that'll take me ages just to get everything uploaded so yeah...

This is not the end.
This is not even the beginning of the end.
It is, instead, the end of the beginning..
