[[ This could be the end of Spider-Man ]]

A 2hr 20 minute movie with the "bad & black" version of Spider-Man coming out only after an hour (what took him so long?). Before the one hour: it's about Peter Parker informing Aunt May of his intention to marry Mary Jane, it's about that black alien gunk that followed Peter home on his moped, it's about Harry being defeated, waking up with amnesia and how 'Sandman' was created when he falls into a vat of souped-up sand that turns him into a genuine dirt bag.

The special effects worked for me but what's with all the crying??!? Spidey keeps his mask off and cries often. Matter of fact, EVERYONE cries. I mean come on, was weeping in everyone's contract??? Because of all these boo-hoos, it has gotten me to like the demonized black Spider-Man more.Yah, and it's all because he didn't cry. Both heroes and villains shed tears so readily, you almost want to stand up mid-screening and ask director Sam Raimi to stop the projector so everybody can have a group hug.

And humour? Well, I can only recall funny moments injected on two scenes - In the Boss' "Daily Bugle" office and the other, in which Peter plans to propose to Mary Jane at a French restaurant. I'm telling you, the French maître d’ was hilarious!

Going back to "crying", here are the characters & their "weeping" moments:

- Aunt May : when she was telling Peter about how she & the late Uncle Ben had met.

- Peter Parker (Spider-Man) : when Captain George Stacy informs him and Aunt May that it was Flint Marko who killed Uncle Ben.

- Harry Osborn (Goblin Jr.) : when his deceased father (Green Goblin) appears in hallucinations and encouraging Harry to kill Spider-Man by "...first we attack his heart."

- Mary Jane & Peter : when they met on the bridge and Mary Jane asking for a break-up.

- Peter : in the cafeteria, after Harry said, "I'm the other half" to him.

- Eddie Brock, Jr. (the new "Daily Bugle" photographer-turned-Venom) : when he was in church, praying "..I want you to kill Peter Parker."

- Harry Osborn : when the butler, Bernard, told him that his late father had "killed himself with his own gliders"

- Flint Marko (Sandman) : when he told Spider-Man of his sick daughter, Peggy. And saying, "..I'm not asking you to forgive me. I just want you to understand." and "...the only thing that's left of me now is my daughter."

- Spidey, Goblin Jr. & Mary Jane : Mary Jane cried when Goblin Jr. was dying in her arms. Spidey teared while apologising to Goblin Jr. of his wrongdoings. And all three cried when Goblin Jr. went, "..none of that matters, Peter. You're my friend" and Spidey replying, "Bestfriends" before Goblin Jr. took his last breath.

Overall, Mr. Raimi did an admirable job given the amount of material in which he had to choose from without alienating the core comic fans. To me, I guess Spiderman 3 is worth seeing once for the hype factor, but a second time? Errr...

Aww Spidey....don't start crying now...

This is not the end.
This is not even the beginning of the end.
It is, instead, the end of the beginning..
