[[ Just when I thought my day was done, somehow, it had only just begun. ]]

I was stopping by the road shoulder when unexpectedly, there was the screeching of brakes and a loud "BANG!"....There it was, right before my eyes -- a two-vehicle collision. There it was, right before my eyes -- 2 bodies lying on the hot, concrete pavement - motionless.

At that split second, I felt my body shiver, in a state of shock. There were traces of fresh blood on the ground and I felt tears welling up in my eyes. It took quite awhile to occur that I was to dial the Emergency number IMMEDIATELY. And (still) shaken, as compared to SMS-ing, those simple 3-digit "9-9-5" numbers seemed to be the hardest and slowest I've ever dialled! :-(
Needless to say, I was so ever thankful when other motorists stopped by to render aid because seriously, I was unsure of how I was to attend to this situation or what I was supposed to do after calling for the ambulance.

This is just one of the men involved in the accident..

Despite my "delayed" phonecall, the first paramedic arrived almost instantly followed by the ambulance and the whole team.

A full report of the accident was needed by the officers and the same story had to be told a few days later when the insurance companies called.
On that day, I've to admit there were moments when I felt I should've have reacted MORE quickly. I'm no paramedic nor am I a trained first aider, but it was the best I could do to help in any way possible. And right now, just as I'm typing away --- I hope, I pray and I wish that those men from the accident will be okay.
Or perhaps, be even better. Ameen.

This is not the end.
This is not even the beginning of the end.
It is, instead, the end of the beginning..
