[[ Feeling the Barometric Pressure ]]

I'm back, and it's time to check the weather for the first time. I've to confess that there's alot I don't really understand about weather reports. In my viewpoint, what most people need to know about the weather can be determined by looking out of the window.

Nevertheless, people seem to love weather reports. Lots of people tune in local news primarily to get the weather. So we hear about "fronts" and "systems" when a simple "it's raining outside" would suffice.

Weather is such a big deal that many stations invest alot of money to make their reports as convincing as possible. Even when they get around to the main event, it's dressed up with meteorological minutiae that you probably don't need to know: "The barometer reads 30.02 inches, and it's falling."

Now, how often have you used that information to check the accuracy of the barometer that you have hanging on your living room wall? I mean, not that I even own one in the first place, but then again...

To me, when it comes to weather reports, I'd like to break it down to just 3 kinds:

(1) Good Weather - example: "It's sunny and beautiful today"

(2) Annoying Weather - this is to let them know if they're going to walk through puddles, of how much it's going to rain or, of when the fog is going to lift.

(3) Dangerous Weather - like hurricanes, blizzards etc.

Concurrently, I'd like to take it that most weather reports can just be boiled down to just this:

"It's hot today. Sunny, too. It won't be tonight, though. Back to you."
So there you have it -
my version of a 4-second weather report,
which I doubt, will ever happen.

This is not the end.
This is not even the beginning of the end.
It is, instead, the end of the beginning..
